Masala Theory opens a second location in Bondi Beach

MEDIA RELEASE

Masala Theory is moving to Bondi!

SYDNEY – November 2023: Sydney’s much-loved Surry Hills neo-Indian restaurant, Masala Theory is welcoming a new outpost this month on Sydney’s glamourous Bondi Beach. Bringing a new groove to his native cuisine is a passion project for owner, Yashpal Erda who founded the Surry Hills restaurant in 2017 as an ode to his Indian roots. Renowned for their whimsical interiors and their inventive food style, after years of serving Sydney’s inner suburbs, this exciting new venue will see the team carry forward the same legacy in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Set to officially open its doors in late November, their new venture will offer diners the same exceptional standard of service and cuisine, with a sleeker look for a more bougie dining experience - and for those who like to indulge…the new year will see the rollout of Australia’s biggest thali!

Owner Yashpal Erda said, “The seven-year journey from Surry Hills to Bondi Beach has given us an incredible experience to be grateful for. Over time our Masala Theory menu has grown, as the Neo Indian food we serve no longer has boundaries. We always strive to celebrate the vast landscape that is India which continues to inspire me and push me to try new dishes, ingredients, flavour and textures.”

Mastering the incredible array of spices and age-old techniques of Indian cuisine is not easy, but Chef Sreekanth Munnangi has earned his stripes at Masala Theory in Surry Hills, over the last seven year as a cook, before moving through the ranks to become Head Chef in Bondi. In Bondi he takes diners on an inspirational journey across India with a healthy selection of dishes, using only the freshest and most authentic of ingredient that caters to all kinds of palates.

Fans of Masala Theory will see a few of the old favourites on the menu including their signature curry bombs and those Gujarati inspired recipes, along with a varied collection of authentic Indian street food snacks and contemporary dishes alike. The menu is divided into vegetarian, non-vegetarian and vegan 3 course set menu’s…mind-blowing entrees…vegetarian, non-vegetarian and vegan main courses…tasty breads, paddy tales and sides. Chef Sreekanth Munnangi has carefully created this menu and as ever they cater for all kinds of food leanings from fodmap, to dairy free and gluten free – they have it all covered and it’s all tasty!
