OCTOBER 2023 – In a treat for lovers of magic and illusion world renowned Grand Illusionist Rick Thomas is set to take over Sydney’s resplendent State Theatre from 1-3 January 2024. Widely known as one of the greatest illusionists in the world today, audiences will be blown away as they witness the most intriguing, innovative and mind-blowing grand illusions in the world!
From sold out performances at Caesars Colosseum and Broadway, to headlining the Sydney Opera House, and staging the most successful family show in the history of Las Vegas for 15 straight years - Rick Thomas has completed an astonishing five world tours covering over 50 countries in his career. ABOUT RICK THOMAS
Rick Thomas is well known as one of the most successful illusionists working today, having completed five world tours covering over 50 countries. High honours include the coveted “Magician of the Year” by the Academy of Magical Arts and "Stage Magician of the Year" by the World Magic Awards. Thomas has performed for 15 years in his own show in Las Vegas, and it went on to become the most successful family show in the history of Vegas. Thomas recently starred at the Andy William’s Moon River Theatre in Branson, Missouri. Rick has also been featured on numerous national television specials including the NBC specials "The World’s Greatest Magic" and his own special on ABC that aired throughout Asia, performing the most intriguing and innovative grand illusions in the world with a style unlike any other magical entertainer. By the age of 18, Thomas was already performing and headlining at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California. He went on to star on over 300 cruises on the finest cruise lines in the world, such as; Royal Caribbean, Royal Viking, Princess and Crystal Cruise Lines. In the following years, Thomas honed his craft and landed his first long-term (5 years) professional engagement in Asia. Last time Rick was in Australia he stared as the Immortal in "The Illusionists 1903", now he brings his full-scale Illusion spectacular to the State Theatre Sydney.
ABOUT CHARLIE MORTIMER PRESENTS
Charlie Mortimer Entertainment was founded in 2023 with the goal of bringing the best live Illusionists and Performance Artists to Australia. Founder Charlie Mortimer brings a wealth of experience across two decades of live entertainment, theatre and film work from producing cutting-edge magic shows, working as a special effects maestro and illusionist, and behind-the-scenes work on Hollywood films.
Charlie worked on an independent feature film by director John Duigan. It was there he worked with George Millers right hand man and Assistant director PJ Voeten. PJ became Charlie's gateway into blockbuster filmmaking. Introducing him to Baz Luhrmanns team and then hiring him on both Mad Max and Alex Proyas's film "Gods of Egypt". Now he is bringing world-class commercial entertainment to Australia with his typical flair and masterful approach.
