Ziggy Alberts publishes new book, Brainwaves....

SUNSHINE COAST – 2nd July 2021 – ARIA award winning singer-songwriter Ziggy Alberts is a gifted lyricist whose genuine grassroots story and conscious living ethos have propelled him into a career as one of Australia’s leading independent artists. He has had an impressive rise from busking on the streets of Byron Bay to releasing eight records, founding his independent label Commonfolk Records and publishing house Commonfolk Publishing. He now plays to sold-out tours across the globe and has captured the hearts and minds of his enormous international following. This year Ziggy launched his first published work from Commonfolk Publishing, a collection of poems fittingly named, brainwaves. The book is a collection of poetry which reflects Ziggy own life’s experiences and thoughts. The poems are deeply personal and relatable, as Ziggy reveals lessons he has learned in conscious and intentional living, as a businessman, musician, writer, and a human being. Throughout July & August this year Ziggy will be touring across regional Australia to promote his new album, searching for freedom. This music tour will coincide with a book tour which will offer his audience a chance to meet with Ziggy in a series of intimate book launch events to discuss his exciting new work.

This collection of poetry, written over two years, began as a form of meditation to clear his mind. Consequently, brainwaves has underlying meditative themes, with a connection to societal observations and nature, tied together with a lightness and Ziggy’s quirky sense of humour.

Ziggy says, “Writing poetry had nothing to do with publishing it. Writing poetry is what music was for me at the very beginning: an outpour. No plan, entirely personal. Poetry is another thoughtfully independent direction that was made possible by my family at Commonfolk Publishing. Looking forward to connecting with you all for the first time, and again.”

Having grown up on the beaches of the Sunshine Coast, Ziggy has had a long held connection to nature and the sea. Surprisingly, his love affair with writing began long before his one with music. He began his professional writing career at the tender age 13 for a surf magazine, followed a few years later by an internship with well-known surf magazine, STAB in Sydney.
